wish to suggest a treasure hunt - have a copy of your book well-hidden near where jim was picked up; with a voucher inside the book for a one ounce gold coin for the lucky hunter?
best wishes,
Dear Mr. Clement Ng,
Thanks for the posting.
I'm glad you recently re-read my book and you're fully convinced Jim had a rendezvous on the day he went missing.
Whatever it is, you are not wrong....
After waving goodbye to Helen and Constance at 1.30pm, Jim made his way for the Lutheran Mission bungalow. He reached the chalet at about 4pm. A short while later, he left the premises and headed the same way from where he came.
The question we need to ask is this: Why did he choose this road when there were so many other avenues available to him?
There are two reasons for this: 1. after the Lee villa, hardly anyone makes use of this street save those who are on vacation at the mission home; 2. he was aware that by remaining on this 560-metre stretch of road, the odds of his being chanced upon were as good as zero.
There is no doubt Jim was picked up at the Jalan Kamunting precinct. This is based on three facts: firstly, Constance did touch on it while she was travelling with Jim in Thompson's taxi; secondly, Helen noticed Jim appeared nervous (while they were at the picnic)... and he seemed anxious to get back early; thirdly, when asked for his opinion, Richard Noone had this to say: neither Jim nor his body are in the jungle.
I have to confess it is not at all easy to pinpoint the spot where Jim was given a lift. It could be anywhere between the Lutheran Mission bungalow and the Lee villa. My guess is the rendezvous was at the barrier area of the cottage. This is the best place for a vehicle to make a three-point turn.
To date, no one has come forward to say where exactly he was picked up. Had it been so, I would have gone ahead to organise a treasure hunt.

Dear Mr. Felix Kara,
Thanks for visiting the Jim Thompson's House a.k.a. the House on the Klong.
While you were there, did you hear of any plans to have his former home relocated?
If so, please do keep us informed.

how are you my friend?
was in bangkok early april and managed to visit the infamous house of jim thompson with two close friends. really an eye-opener to see another interesting aspect of jim's sojourn and lifestyle in thailand.
wouldn't it be great if you could incorporate the thai connection in the next update of your book?
my very best regards,

Dear Mr. De Souza,
I found this forum very interesting and it does makes me puzzle with all the excerpts of your book here.
This makes me so interested with your story, hence I have just found out that there is a copy of your book sold in the MPH which I have requested them to reserved it for me for collection later this evening.
Really looking forward to read your book.
