Hilltop bungalow 8 Years, 9 Months ago
Have anybody stayed at Hilltop Bungalow and maybe can share your experience. I am contemplating renting it, the web site shows this old tudor building and a lounge, it looks OK but no room photos featured and sometimes the photos can only say so much. I am planning for a family reunion for xmas and since my hunt for the Rose cottage is proving fruitless and time is running out, I hope to finalise soon .Thanks.

Hi boys n girls,

I've juz cm bk fm cameron yday, on leave 2day, n decided 2 search 4 ghost stories n stumbled upon this forum. I'm not a fan of forums at all but decided 2 share my experiences after readin bout your enquiries about this bungalow. it's really called 'hilltop' bungalow n situated on it's own lil hill nearby d bank negara malaysia bungalow. it's realy beautiful n every yr for almost 10yrs now, i'll b stayin thr durin cny wif my relatives fm oversea. it's owned by d eu yan sang (chinese herbal company) family. d plc is looked after by a caretaker, mrs chong n her son who lives next 2 d bungalow. mrs chong is a hainanese n she is a damn gud cook. she charges extra 4 her meals. her scones n tuna rolls 4 tea is excellent. hilltop is not cheap. it used 2 b around rm800 about a few yrs ago but juz a few weeks ago, after d whole plc has been repainted, they r now chargin rm1200 a nite. d plc has a bedroom downstairs n 3 upstairs. none of us had any bad encounters thr b4 but d plc can b dark, spooky n quiet at nite. it's far fm d rest of d hotels. accordin 2 mrs chong, d japs used it as their office durin d jap occupation in cameron. not sure if anyone had died thr b4 tho. 2 days ago, mrs chong has mentioned dat d eu yan sang family wanna put dat plc on sale for 12million. dat plc can really fetch bout 10million i tell u. it's built so long ago dat even d fittings thr u cant find anymore. d fittings in d toilets like d sinks n taps r all fm london. d names of d british companies r engraved on them. so, it all adds 2 d spookiness at nite. hehehe.... i'm not sure if my family will go bk thr next yr. v might try another bungalow. it's quite ex 2 b payin rm3,000 for juz 2nites stay as mrs chong only allow 8paxs n additional paxs hv 2 pay extras.

final verdict : i've stayed in a lot of bungalows but not many can exude d charm quite like hilltop. mayb can try another beatiful one called 'bintang cottage'. this one is only opened 4 rental 4 standard chartered staff.i stayed thr when i was young n d hainanese caretakers cud cooked well 2. still remember bout 15yrs ago when cameron was much cooler than now, they lighted d fireplace 4 us!!

i love hilltop bungalow!

its as if the house was lifted from the countryside in england in the 1940s and put straight on top of a hill in malaysia.

definitely a great place to go if you're with a group of people.

Hi,

Here is the contact of Rose Cottage. Caretaker name is Mdm Siew Sau Lan H/P# is 019-4360223.

The place is almost excellent but a bit on expensive side. It cost about RM800 to RM850 per nite for weekends, school holidays & publc holidays. It's cosy & warm. Just ideal to spend X'mas with family sitting near the chimney. Its an old british style. I'hd been there.

If you can afford then go ahead without think twice.

Hi Hi, this christmas is gonna be a special one for us this year! Yes, we'll be spending 4D3N in Hilltop Bungalow, exchanging gifts near the fireplace . Am wondering if Mrs Chong is a good western good? Since it is christmas, thinking of getting her to prepare some roasts...

Mrs Chong is perhaps the most wonderful cook I ever met....she is very good with her Roast Leg of Lamb, Roast Pork with apple sauce and crackling, Roast Beef (Sirloin) and best of all, Roast Chicken.

Her Chinese cooking are also excellent....steamboat and such.

Sadly, she is not there at Hilltop Villa anymore and hopefully her son
learn all of her skills in cooking.
