Cameron Highlands via Ipoh 2 Years, 6 Months ago
I am planning to visit Cameron Highlands in January via Ipoh just want to know which bus terminal does the coach from KL terminates in Ipoh and if I want to connect and proceed to Cameron Highlands do I connect from the same terminal or do I have to proceed elsewhere? What is the travelling time from Ipoh to Cameron Highlands and the frequency?

The terminal which I am supposed to connect to CH are there budget hotels in the same vicinity?

Your responses will be greatly received and thanking you in anticipation

Hope you don't mind me asking a stupid question.

Why would you want to travel to Ipoh, then to CH. Since you are departing from KL, why not take the bus directly to CH. I believe there is a direct bus from KL. Please find your information here.

www.cameronhighlands.com/Destination-Gui...l-Info/Bus-Schedule/

I know Ipoh there are two bus terminal, unfortunately I have forgotten their names. One for intercity (Kurnia Bistari service this terminal), while the other one is for buses serving around Ipoh area (Kinta Omnibus service this terminal). Bus from KL to Ipoh will go to the one service by Kurnia Bistari.

As for the budget hotel, sorry don't know whether there are any. I am not sure how that area has developed.

Hope this helps.

OK, the intercity terminal is called Medan Gopeng. While the other localised terminal is called Medan Kidd.

Medan Kidd is within Ipoh. Not far from the railway station. It is about 600-800m away. You have most things around this terminal. The bus takes about 2.5 hours from this location to reach CH. This terminal is a bit old.

Medan Gopeng is at the outskirt of Ipoh town. You have most of the conveniences around this terminal also, except I couldn't find any budget hotel. Going to CH should be faster as it is nearer to the turn to the road that goes to CH. Should cut around 20-30mins off the other option, since it is nearer to CH.

Hope this is of further help.

Rgds

Thank you SinChee for your info and quick response, in reply to your question why do I not travel directly to CH from KL, I have travelled many times to CH from KL but since I have not toured Ipoh before I thought I give it a shot this time and take off to Cameron Highlands from Ipoh that’s the reason I needed much info about the coach terminal that ply from Ipoh to Cameron anyway thanks for all the information.

It won’t make a difference from which terminal I take off from in Ipoh I’m in no rush as I have lots of time to ramble around and see places, will take note of your observations and hope to enjoy my trip to Cameron Highlands as always.

Cheers and have a nice day

If you are exploring Ipoh, then the terminal to go for is Medan Kidd. For that is in Ipoh town itself. But I am afraid your KL bus will alight you at Medan Gopeng. You then have to either take a cab or a local bus to Ipoh town.

Btw, I don't have to book in-advance for the bus in Medan Kidd. Just go 30mins, or 40 mins, before the departure time to buy the ticket from the bus counter. Do take note of the departure time.

All the buses will stop at Tanah Rata, just in case you need this info.

Oh, on another note.

Medan kidd is near the Ipoh train station. So why not take the train from KL to Ipoh. For your consideration.

Hi
I would like to suggest an easier way to Ipoh city centre, just take the SriMaju Express bus from Kl to Ipoh. It will stop at their own terminal at Jalan Bendahara which is within walking distance to various popular spots.
JUst visit srimaju's website to get their contact no.and find out informations needed and also go to google map on ipoh esp. Jalan Bendahara.
Hope this will help.

Me again.
There is a coffee shop opposite the old majestic cinema(closed years ago, u may ask the local for the location. it is not far from the bus terminal. Sorry I dont know the name of the road) which sells Kinta Bus tickets to CH, if I am not wrong, u may wait for the bus there.
I happened to see the sign of "CH bus tickets sold here' when I visited Ipoh months ago
