Hi everyone,
I'm here again requesting for suggestions..
do you know guys, if we are from cameron highlands down to simpang pulai, perak, what are the interesting places that we can visit closer to the exit there from CH?
Coz im from kelantan, so better if it is nearest to the exit so that we wouldnt go further and easier for us to go back kelantan.
I would like to hear any suggestion from you all.[ waterfall, museum, shopping, park or any other intersting places ]
do you know about kellies castle [or whatever it sounds] ?
is it fun there?

I am assuming you will be going via the Gua Musang route. If yes, then I don't think there is much for you, maybe just the scenery.

Thank you SinChee,
actly if we come from kelantan, then the fastest route to reach CH is through Gua Musang then go up through Tringkap and down through Ringlet and then to Tapah [if im not mistaken la].
Then from Tapah where can we go ?
Isn't there any places to go, at Perak [from Tapah] ?

Kellie Castle, Cave exploration, Hot Springs in Tambun are some. Trying surfing for interesting places in and around Ipoh. I think you will get more from there.

The other alternative route is through Gerik. There you can pass Taiping town and Bukit Banding. A much longer route but equally enjoyable.

Talking about from Cameron to Perak, I understand that there are two routes to go about. One is the Tapah route, another route is the Simpang Pulai route. What I would like to know is if I come from the South (from Johor), is Tapah the shorter ans faster route to reach Cameron Highlands? I heard that Simpang Pulai route maybe be wider and better but it takes much longer time to reach the top of Cameron Highlands. Thank you.

You r right Geoffrey, the fastest way to reach Cameron is through Tapah route, if you r from Johor. Although Simpang Pulai route is wider, it is longer and takes time to reach Cameron. But if you prefer a safety journey and want to spend time for the scenery and not in rushing, you may take the Simpang Pulai route. Decision is all yours.

Taking the Tapah route may be the shortest, but it may not necesary means it is the fastest. The problem with the Tapah route is that the road is narrow and you have to encounter many sharp turns, with a great number of blind corners. May give motion sickness problem to your passengers. The only thing I like with this route is that you will pass the Iskandar fall. A good place to stop and enjoy the cold water. From the Lakeside onwards, the views is also very very nice. Now if you go up during the peak, be prepare for a slow drive up, with the numbers of lorries and buses. Overtaking will be a big problem.

The SP route is longer but the road is wider and with two lanes (for most part of the route), overtaking is a lot easier with wider turns. It permits you to travel a lot faster than the Tapah road. The bottleneck is only when you turn into CH, where the road suddenly becomes narrower. But this narrow road is only for a short distance.

If you have not use either of these roads, then maybe I suggest you go up via the Tapah way and come down using the SP route. Why, that is because if you go down you will be travelling a bit faster. With the narrow Tapah road and numerous sharp corners, it will test you and your passengers with regards to motion sickness.

Hope this helps.

Sinchee,
Where is the Cave located, which cave do you refer to?
Is it the Gua Tempurung?
How long does it take to reach there [Gua Tempurung?] down from CH?
and according to you, if we go for cave exploration, how long does it take to complete the exploration?

There is also Kelly's Castle near the Exit from Tapah, how long does it take to reach there from Tapah exit? It is a historical place isn't it?

I've never been to the caves, in Ipoh. But I understand that you have to engage a guide to lead you into those caves. There are a number of caves but Gua Tempurung is a popular choice. There are different types/level of cave exploration activity. You choose based on your own physical ability. The more physical option will take more time. I believe you can surf and find for tour companies that offer such activities.

And, if you want to visit Kellie Castle, take the SP route. On exit, head south, I think it takes about 20-30 minutes to reach it. Now, if you take the Tapah route then you will have to head north, I don't know the timing for the Tapah route. If you like old building, you will like the castle. But if old structure is not your interest, then it can be very, very boring.
