My 2005 Trip - 2005/05/25 17:30 21-5-2005 Saturday (4.10pm)
Meet up with my girlfriend and begin our journey to Cameron Highlands via Plus highway, the sky is clear and good, great journey, Stop at Tapah resting area for some snacks at about 6.15pm, fill up some fuel and air, then we continue on the trip, Ok with the way up and seem that the road is in repair condition, witness a lot of road widening project going on.
Didn’t stop for anything, because the sky is getting dark, so I continue the driving till Brinchang, check in about 8.30pm, settle all the thing, then I took bath and heading down to the Pasar Malam, ( I stayed at Chua Jin , the block behind ) didn’t spend much time at Pasar Malam as we looking for dinner, I went to a restaurant side to Rosa Pasedena Hotel call Palm…Something, order a pot of Hot Chinese Tea, A black pepper chicken chop and sirloin steak for my girl friend…cheap and satisfying, RM10 for sirloin and less for the chicken chop, RM19.00 for the dinner, good deal.
After finishing the dinner we went back to Hotel at about 10 something, watch some TV drama and sleep early for tomorrow.
· I spend RM240 for two night stay at Chua Jin as because it’s peak season, usual price is about RM78, can received Tv1 and 2, adding a Astro Movie channel which you cannot change the channel.
· The weather is not very cold, still can leave hotel with T-shirt and short pant.

22-5-2005 Sunday (7.00am)
Waked early to made our self some sandwiches, because we bring our own sandwich maker, then prepare some oakmeal drink together for the breakfast, after finish at about 8.30am we prepared our-self for drive up to Kea Farm.
The 1st destination I looking for is Mount. Brinchang. Took about some time then I reached the peak, the view is good, not as cold as before which is – Tooth fighting Cold.
Didn’t manage to climb the watch tower as it’s full house, met a lot of people, some prepare for hiking and some just up for the view which is from the car-plate, is Singaporean, spend about 20minutes then journey down to the Palas Tea House factory, manage to shot some photo on the way down. always good photo, use my polarize lens to make it better.
When reached the Tea Factory ( before the hill up to it ) realized that vehicle can’t drive up to the hill, because some construction is going on which take the carpark space, so, we have to walk up to the hill to reached the Tea House, then another disappointment is that the external surrounding chair and table is no more there, ended up that I have to take my tea inside the café… which is not good personally, Hope that they didn’t dismantle the natural look of the café. From the view of construction they look like building up a long bridge like restaurant, which again a disappointment for my point of view, really wish that they’ll preserve the natural look of the place or I think it’ll be the history for my visit to Cameron Highlands.
Before I go down to the carpark I manage to bought some tea for my brother, good if the cashier can show some smile and a thank you when people paying for their products, really miss the time when the place is manage by the local India lady who is more friendly and easy to chat to about totally local matter like some hidden attraction that they know. What can I said, another disappointment.
Then come to the end of the visit, when I went down the hill, there is no traffic control at all, some permitted bus and 4 wheel drive just pass by the pedestrian with ignorance of danger. This matter have to take good care of. So about the Palas Tea Factory visit…. What can I say!…. try to forget it and getting on with the journey.
Make a stop at the Bee Farm, have my self an ice scream to accompanied my walk,to the park. As usual good flower and Beessss, enjoy the view, and it’s free. Went to some souvenir and vege stall to check out some price, then only know that avocado is a seasonal fruit, only out on July and August, hope to buy some actually….but at last got buy some souvenir also.
Before I went back to Brinchang, make a short stop at Equatorial, want to check out price for buffet dinner, Rm38 perpax with Western and Local dishes, this is what told by the restaurant cashier.
About 11.30am we drive back to Brinchang Town, but didn’t stop there, continue driving to Tanah Rata, want to check out the restaurant there for lunch, want to try T-café, so, check out at T-café, unfortunately, it closed for Sunday… In disappointment we go around the town for few time looking for lunch… at last stop at a Chinese Restaurant, with Japanese introduction and the place filled with Japanese, mind pop-up thinking of having steam boat, the first time in noon, try the twin tom yam / herb soup and order a side dish, something like fat tiu chueng. Great taste, good decision made, the price of the steam boat is Rm16 per pax. Spend about 1 and half hour there.
After the delicious steam boat, we walk around the town for souvenir before we went on to the next destination, MARDI, nothing special there with the usual potted flower and plant for sale, also with some kind of consumer product and souvenir, the price is good.
But we didn’t buy anything, just spend some good time there.
( Oh, left out something…on the way to Tanah Rata, I check out the price for buffet at Strawberry park.. RM25 per pax. At Jim Thomson Terrace )
After MARDI, about 4.00pm, thinking of having scone and coffee, so, we drive to Merlin Inn looking for scone, when first walk in, though the place is closed, actually is operating, so as what have in mind I order A set of scone, coffee and hot chocolate for my girl friend, the waiter say that scone come with a set of tea for two, but still I want to have coffee, so at last we have tea, coffee, hot chocolate and the scone, taste good and tell you is a great place to have, the music, the view of the golf course from the opened window with drizzle, what a great experience. The taste of the scone is better then the one I had before, salted butter and strawberry jam make it the best. For the price of RM20, ure will stop there again for tea and scone.
Left Merlin Inn, and drive around before back to hotel for bath before dinner.
Decision made for Strawberry Park, Jim Thomson Terrace, for the price of RM25 per pax, they have curry chicken, fish dish, and some other local dish, also with some kuih and rojak, together with chicken soup, didn’t eat much as still full with the steam boat meal, but the place is ok, having a great evening there, curious about the name Jim Thomson terrace, I ask the captain there for connection in between, she said the place is not own by Jim Thomson family but because Moonlight Bungalow is near to the place they just use the name for it…nothing special.
Left Strawberry Park and back to Brinchang town park our car and went on to Pasar Malam for some last minute shopping, got buy a pack of 4 cordycep for RM10, 3 pack cherry Tom for RM5, a pack of large cili for RM2, 3 pack of strawberry for Rm10 and one dozen of roses for RM5.
Go back to hotel, very tired, sleep at about 10.50pm.

· I drive a 850 Auto, Kancil, no problem with the climbing up to Mount. Brinchang.
· Chua Jin equipped with a water boiler and new Panasonic 20” flat screen TV. Which I have no idea when they upgrade the facilities, good thing.
· Again I wish that Palas Tea Plantation will get the matter around good for the new project.

23-5-2005 Monday (7.00am)
Wake up early, as like yesterday, make our elf a good breakfast, then check out at about 8.30am. Go down straight to Tapah and make a stop at Tapah resting place before continue our journey back to KL….before home, stop at Rawang, then to Ijok for Seafood lunch..

There go my journey for Cameron Highlands for 2005, A short one but, perfectly filled, generally a good trip, and some disappointment will not change my love for Cameron Highlands…..

Regards,
Lew
