steamboat restaurants worth trying - 2006/10/24 16:38 I visit Cameron Highlands very often since It's a good plc for old man like me to take rest at.
I've almost visited all the steamboat stalls that are available at Cameron Highlands, yet, I found most of them are overpriced!
There are two steamboat restaurants which i personally feel worth trying
1. Golden Win Restaurant, their price is resonably cheap and yet the foods were served freshy. The good thing is, there were no extra charge for requesting soup refill and more vegetables! Unlike some of the steamboat restaurants, they even charge you when you request to refill the soup! JESUS! I found thier website @ http://goldenwin.blogspot.com
For your info, they charge as low as RM13 to RM15
per person

2. The organic steamboat restaurant. Although I can't taste any different with organic vegetables and normal vegetables, it's still worty trying. If i'm not mistaken, they charge RM18 per person. What I like about these two restaurants is that they are very transparance in terms of their price, and the foods served were very fresh.

Re:steamboat restaurants worth trying - 2006/10/25 00:27 Highlands restaurant was once my favourite,it was famous for charcoal steamboat. but when his son took over, the food wasn't as tasty as it used to be. However, for some unknown reason, the restaurant is closed. It is no longer available...

Mayflower restaurant is well known because of its strategic location. Personally, I dun find the food extraordinary. I would give them an average score.

hmm... for chinese food, personally I find there are quite a numbers of restaurant @ Brinchang have done a good job,
-OK-TUCK's chinese foods are delicious,
-Golden Win's assam fish is a must try,
-that's a restaurant located at the other end of Golden Win restarant, which i've forgotten its name, (just before Public Bank)serves very good western food aswell
-Fried Rice @ Palm Leaf located opposite of Public Bank

but really beware of some restaurants... CUT THROAT! Beware of Silver Star restaurant, I tried a very normal milo for the same price at Starbuck

Re:steamboat restaurants worth trying - 2006/10/26 22:49 sure! I just can't wait to hear from you! have a safe journey over there. It's really a great place for just whomever enjoys the non-urban life! Take your time and taste the air over there, it's a totally different environment from Singapore or K.L.
Enjoy!

THAT's great!!! I didn't even have 1 cent discount when the last time i visit her restaurant! I guess I must also make phone reservation be4 getting to Cameron Highlands!

And if you hv a chance, talk to the owner Mdm Cheah, she was one of the very nice women i ever talk to. Let me give u a tip, from the last conversation i had wt her, i actually found out that she is doing some vegetable export trading business, which mean, they have very fresh vegetables as well. I actually bought some from them for an amazing cheap price compare to the night market once!

Try to buy some corn from them! you get a very very good price compare to night market. Yes i meant CORN! You will be really amazed wt the corn @ cameron highlands, It was unbelivable tasty corn I ever taste in my life! It was JUICY and SWEET! The corn can be eaten as it is! without steaming or any cooking! You definately wont regard eating Cameron Highlands corn!
Enjoy ya!

Re:steamboat restaurants worth trying - 2006/10/28 18:03 Hi Peter
According to their website, the 20% phone reservation discount promotion
is only valid until 5th of November 2006
however they still offer 10% discount for earlier phone reservation after 5th Nov 06.

I'll definately take note and corn is definately listed into our purchase list.

Thanks for the tips, I really appreciate it.
