Trip to CH (220606-230606) - 2006/06/30 00:37 [i]
I visited CH with a gal friend last week. The gloomy weather forecast worried us a little, but the afternoon rain proved to be a cooling respite

We did a walk-in at Cameronian Inn early in the morning but was received by Ganesh in any case ( although the reception will only be attending to guests from 7.30am onwards). He helped us with making the arrangements for a local tour while we washed up in our room, with American breakfast ready before we leave for the tour.

We did a half-day Adventure Tour with Jaffar: First, we made our way to a scenic spot at Sungai Palais Tea Plantation for photo-taking. Next, we made our way to the summit of Gunung Brinchang and accessed the Viewing Tower. We also did a mini trek into the Mossy Forest near the camp site, which was an eye-opener. This was followed by a trip to the Boh Tea Factory and we enjoyed a cuppa at the Boh Tea Centre (A MUST VISIT) We made some purchases at the Tea Shop before making our way to Raju's Hill Strawberry Farm to try out the Strawberry Ice-cream & Shake.

The second half of the day was free & easy and we visited the many farms that were located nearby each other -- the Bee Farm & the Wild Orchid Farm, which were not far away from the Strawberry Farm. We gave the Butterfly Farm a miss as we are not too keen on insects

We managed to hitch a ride at Equatorial Hotel instead of waiting for the public bus which is a test of patience. We dropped off at Brinchang town for break at Silver Restuarant -- the Ba Kut Teh not too bad. After much test for patience, we decided to flag a cab to Tanah Rata. It's steamboat at May Flower restuarant for dinner and the chicken broth for the soup base was fantastic! We also booked a tour with Father's Guest House to go on Orang Asli tour on the next day.

We woked up a little later on Day 2, decided to venture around ourselves. After breakfast at Mary's Brown, we tried out the leisurely trek to Parit Falls. Trekkers do take care, especially gals on their own: I was "attacked" by a stone from nowehere (I believe it was a prank by 2 locals we met on the way and they over-took us as we walked down further). Other than the minor episode, all went well. Had wanted to venture to the Robinsons Fall should time permit.

We tracked back the route and pop over to MARDI. There was no one to attend to us, so we roamed about the premises by ourselves. We dropped by T-cafe for scones, apple pie and crepes for lunch before we headed back to Cameronian Inn to catch the Land Rover for the tour to the Orang Asli village.

It was a long ride to the village, and a bumpy one along the way. We met up with Osman the Chief and he was a very hospitable chap. We also tried our hands at the blow pipe

We ended the day with food at the hawker centre. We had Yong Tau Hoo and Ramly Burger -the Ayam Special was so huge we had difficulty finishing it!

Couldn't sleep that night, perhaps too full or perhaps reluctant to leave so soon... I decided to walk around the Inn and came across 2 other guests who woked up to catch a football match on tv (Swiss against Korea on World Cup qualifiers).

Rushed to Zainub Sam for Nasi Lemak at 6.20am before leaving Cameron. Really hate to go so soon, gonna be back some day...
