is this HALAL? Mr.S.Chelvam - 2003/05/05 00:06
Dear Mr.S. Chelvam , Where are you, last time when I was in Cameron Highlands, You were still there, running Shal’s Curry House and chalets, but seem that now the place it’s no longer operating as usual, they’re selling beer and the problem is this, just want to confirm, last day I was there with my Malay friend, It’s his first trip to Cameron Highlands, for lunch, I told him Shal’s it’s the best curry house in town and as planned we went there, but when I first walk in I realize that thing had changed and the place is under Chinese operation, actually it’s OK with me as long as the food is HALAL, and the lady confirmed it to me. So I think it’s good, but my friend begin to suspect, because it’s weird to have place which is HALAL but operating by Chinese, then when I saw a signboard showing that it sell beer and some of the customer it’s having it, I begin to think will the place be HALAL if at the same time they sell beer, my friend really unhappy about this and truly it spoiled the whole trip, I want to make this matter clear. Please I’m grateful if Mr. Chelvam can answer my questions, I really miss your hospitality treat, If the restaurant really had changed ownership, please do together with it Change the name of it, as Shal’s Curry House meant something nostalgia to me and really spoiled their reputation as well as confusing for Muslim. Please do make this matter clear.
Another thing is, at Brinchang, I can see that much of the restaurant had changed from selling mee, porridge, chicken & mix rice to Steamboat meal at night, for me it’s great, I love steamboat specially when it’s cold, but really those restaurant is not lone traveler friendly like me, like I’m not welcome. I can understand it’s really not convenient for them to have table only for one, it’s a waste, but I can seldom found restaurant, like last time when I spent 5 day there, I consumed almost the same restaurant every night, for people like me, variety is very important, maybe no one can do anything about this but hopefully steamboat restaurant owner will spare out some corner and dish for lone traveler like me, this just my ideas to make it a much better place to travel.
Hope to hear positively from you all, Bye.
Your sincerely,
Chiehchee
