Dear Horlicks,
Thanks for your feedback. And what you said goes to show that "cheap does not mean bad". You can get decent lodgings for RM70 and below. Even the hostels (just a bed) costing RM15 per night is pretty clean and comfortable. And if you take the effort to check out promotions, you can even get a good deal like the one you got!
Enjoy your stay and "ho, ho, ho, horlicks!"

Re: Wonderful Cameron Highlands - 2004/01/01 22:45
Hi All,
I just came back to Sin from holiday in M'sia, with 2 nites stay at EH 25-27dec. Frankly spkg, I am quite disappointed,as I tot the weather will be very cooling, as comparable with genting. I will still prefer Genting weather cos it reali more cooling... Nevertheless, is quite a nice place to visit CH if you havent got the chance to visit the plc yet.
Another quite disappointment is: EH is not as fanastic as what I see on the website...hotel staff attitue is so--so only. Room wise, I feel ok, cleanliess I will give 7 out of 10...The only gd point is quite near to some of the attractions.
As I was travelling on the coach pkg, on the way to EH, a Trvl agt came up the bus and recommend us to take his tr..The agt name is Zai Leisure, well the Indian guide is quite ok, but his tr fare is RM 20, whereas when I went to Tanah Rata, the cost is cheaper @ RM 15 only, and which includes trip to the Sam Poh Buddhist Temple, whereas Zai Leisure do not include the trip to Journey...So suggest if any1 who want to take any country visit tr, may be you can try bk from trvl agt C.S travel..
I had a steamboat dinner in one the stall at Brinchang name 'Fong Lum', I dont reali suggest you guys to have your meal there!!! Different pp quote different prices ( cos I hapen to hear some other staff giving diff quote..) Or, perhaps we have only 2 pp, that why the prices are higher, so when I ask them after our meal abt the price varaiation, that auntie not so unwilling to answer and attitude was so bad also...For all of you info, I spend RM 38 for both of us steamboat dinner, the taste of the tom yam is not so fanastic... I am so regretted as after dinner, as we walk along some other stalls, 1 of the stall uncle came up to us, asking us to eat steamboat and saying RM 12 per person steamboat...
Despite the unpleasant dining experience, on the whole, CH is still quite a nice plc to go, however, I dont think I will stay at EH on the next visit..i will choose lakehse or smokehse, I went to smokehse, it was very English style, though quiet, but nice plc to relax.
Happy New Year to All
Regards JH

Dear JH,
You are one of the many people who said that EH is not recommendable...I guess one thousand people cannot be wrong. Seems like only Neo said that its good...wonder why????
Well, we have already changed our booking to Merlin Inn and later to the Ye Old Smoke house. I am not ready to face all the "headaches" in EH, which I believe will spoilt my holidays.
Thank you all for your comments...I will skip EH.
Regards, Francis

Hi Francis,
Oh, you will be staying in two different plcs? Well, I think is good, cos initially, I tot of staying in 2 diff plcs also, it jus that I am not doing self-drive, and ist time to CH, + taking pkg, otherwise wld have choose lakehse, smokehse, strawberry park. I pass by Merlin, exterior looks gd... If you are driving, perhaps you can make a trip to Lakehse, I think it is also a nice plc to visit and stay.....If I go CH again, I will stay at lakehse and smokehse , though is not so near to the attraction, but I think, the hotel style is worth it.
Well, do post your travel experiences after you have visited CH.
Have a Pleasant Trip!!!

Oh...no! I cancelled my booking at Merlin Inn to EH. I am a bit worried to read various comments about EH on this forum. I'll have to look for another hotel now. Sob......sob......

Jaya,
You may or may not be doing the right thing! If you are going to call them to cancell the reservations, I would suggest that you personally speak to Ms. Theo or Ms. Jannie for some assurances at the Equatorial.
Cheers and good luck

Hi Jaya,
Check up the terms and conditions of your reservation. If you are still on time to cancel without having to pay any penalty I am sure you can make new arrangements.
I have done this even during the peak season of December. Should be no problem. Check up the Internet and you will find that there are so many options for accommodation.
Good luck!

Thank you for your advice Jade. I read EH condition, I can cancel the booking anytime before 7 days to check-in date. I am going there during this CNY holiday.
After reading Neo's comments, I emailed my concern to EH on Monday 5 Jan and to my surprise, there were no reply from EH till to-date. Luckily I managed to get back my booking at Merlin. I have yet to cancel the booking at EH, I will give EH till end of this week. Want to know how customer oriented they are!

Dear jaya,
U have made a right choice by not going to EH. Why? I am sure that you don't want to spoil your holidays just because NEO is trumpeting so much for EH.
I presume that out of 100 guest only 1 or 2 persons like EH and people like NEO will sacrifice anything for EH. Always wonder whether NEO is working for EH or EH is paying for all the telephone calls made by NEO to EH on behalf of this "on line readers complains".

Bartie,
There's no need to cancell your booking. Just get in touch with the Reservations Manager ? Ms. Theo or Front Office Manager / Ms. Jannie and ask them to give you the assurance that everything will be fine.
Good luck and cheers

i have had a bad expereince in FL reataurant too. I don't really recommend anyone to eat there. The food is just too little for the price we pay. Simply not worth it!!! The attitude of the owner and the service provide is extremely poor.
