Re:equatorial hotel CH - 2008/05/25 17:04
Congratulations, nur, for making the right choice.
I've stayed in the deluxe room before(which was basically, the ''normal'' kind of hotel room)and you'll probably need to request for a balcony since not all the rooms are built with one of that. I stayed in a suite room during my last visit, which was awesome, with large plasma TV and THREE balconies!! Other than that, i think the superior rooms will be under the hotel's wireless coverage while the deluxe rooms aren't. The rooms are extremely clean and didn't have the mouldy smell(i'm speaking from experience). Bed sheets etc were very clean and didn't have any sort of weird odor. Generally, i was very satisfied with Equatorial and i'll be getting myself a room there again for one whole week after my A level examinations.
Food-wise, i think most of the restaurants in Cameron Highlands are halal, as even the chinese restaurants don't provide any pork-related dishes, not in the steamboat meal, at least. If you're not a very particular muslim, that should be fine for you. I've discovered quite a few malay and Indian vegetarian restaurants too. Those restaurants, apparently, don't sell pork as well as any other kind of meat products. If you're really desperate for a pure-halal restaurant, there are always lots of malay stalls/mini restaurant for you. Those stalls are normally opened at night and right opposite of the night market. You have to try the steamboat in CH, it was an unforgettable experience for me in such cooling atmosphere and, don't worry, they never serve pork in the steamboat meals.(as i've said before). There are lots of Muslim tourists in CH during my previous visits to CH so i guess the chinese restaurants should be smart enough not to provide any non-halal food in their shop.
Feel free to voice your doubt. I'll post my comments when i'm free.
