Hi, I hope my reply won't come too late as I just backed from Cameron this afternoon - 13 APR 2008. Bala Chalet is astonishing! I had a very pleasant stay last night. Superb garden view! Tips: Do check in early, say by 12 noon, in order to get better view's room.

Hi Azyun, to me Bala's Chalet is a superb getaway accomodation.
Bala is actually an old english school converted chalet. Full charm of english accents, makes you forget where you are...imagine having a cup of english tea at the garden, what else can you ask for
I stayed at superior room with my husband, weekend rate is RM160, weekday rate is RM120. I checked with Bala's staffs, weekend rate is applicable on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Superior room comes with hot shower, towel, showel gels and stuffs, and TV too. No hair dyer and wordrope.
One thing which I am not satisfied with is the blanket. I am not sure if it was too cold for the particular night, I felt the blanket isn't thick enough to keep us warm. If you are bringing your princess provided you are driving there, you might wanna consider bringing an extra blanket for your princess.
Breakfast not included, menu at Bala is abit pricy to me. I heard their scones and afternoon tea are good but I didn't try. In Cameron, you can get good scones and pancakes at a much cheaper price(if compare to Bala's), so no worry for that.
Wish you great journey ahead!

when you're there at bala's, do walk the stairs to the creepy first floor, you'll see a lot of dried blood and don't be surprise if the place is haunted

Re:bala chalet? - 2008/04/21 02:36
as far as i know bala's chalet was an old british nursery or kindergarden, and there has been a lots of happening there in the past but I don't see how it will effect any hotel guest

First floor? I am not too sure which 'first floor' are you suggesting.
I stayed at superior room which is a single storey stretch, another stretch behind us - at upper hill, is 1 & 1/2 storey room which comes with an attic.
Bala is an old English school converted chalet but if you do not aware of such background, you hardly will realised as it looks more of a charming English garden chalet now. I notice wall in my room(in fact the facet of all chalet) are pretty newly painted. I heard their going through gradual renovation.
I didn't felt anything weird/ odd or bad. It was a total pleasant stay for me.

Hi Shen Yann, if you don't mind, may I give u some advice. It will be better if u stay at Brinchang, star regency hotel, Rosa Passadena hotel, Jasmine hotel etc. Pl remember u need to book advance if u are going on a weekend.
Here food is within walking distance around these hotels. The pasar malam u mention is in this area also. Then u can visit the Big Red Strawberry Farm (free admission), next to it is the Cactus Valley( Entrance fee 4Rm per adult. Both are within walking distance. If u want to go to Tanah Rata or Kea Farm you have to go by Taxi, its a few km away and will be dangerous to walk there. Hope the above advice will enlighten you. Have a nice trip.

Re:bala chalet? - 2008/05/10 20:26
Hi Shen Yann, the pleasure is mine for advising you. Frankly, all three are ok in terms of cleanliness. Hotel Jasmine is cheaper and smaller less facilities. The more expensive one is Rosa passadena for weekend is more than 200rm and weekday is less than 200rm. Star Regency is in between and has more rooms.
I have chosen Rosa for my next visit. Frankly my last 2 visits, I stayed at Strawberry Park 227rm per day for studio apt (2 adults) weekdays rate. My nephews also frequent visitor to CH had stay at all the 3 hotels I recommended to u. They told me to try for my next visit. Another friend of mine strongly recommend me to stay at star regency. But most of us prefer going there on weekdays. For taxi to Tanah Rata from Brinchang is about 6 kms only. I check with my friend and he told me its about 10rm. This u can confirm with the hotel reception. But do expect things being more expensive on weekends and public holidays at CH. You can bargain on the price.
