Cameron 20 - 23 March - 2008/03/23 22:42 Was in cameron highlands from 20 - 23 march. Was there with my 2 buddies and my beloved gal.

Took a bus from golden mile konsortium at 10.30. Bus journey was pretty much normal except for the jam at the causeway due to MR MAS SELEMAT KASTARI. waited for a gd 3 hours. Stop over at yong peng for late supper... Journey up the mountain was twindling and winding but nothing which we cant handle.

We reach Brinchang at around 9+. We reach the TITISWANGA tour agency and we were being approached by them 2 get packages. We got the agro tour and national walk tour. There are mini buses which send that send you to strawberry park hotel. They are being charged at $3 per pax.

2.45 we waited at strawberry park lobby before starting our tour. The tour guide MR BALAS was a very friendly and knowledgable. It includes going to open terrace farms, strawberry farm, flowery nusery and cactus farms. It was a nice and relaxing tour with tons of information provided by MR BALAS. There was also a joke being played on 1 of my buddies being he wanting to eat chicken and buy tokat ali... haha... Dinner was at some chinese steamboat place. Went to the night market and bought some stuff before going back to the hotel.

The next day was the nature walk tour led by mr amin. He is a funny n jovial guide who loves fun and he nv fails 2 make pple laugh. Went to the mossy jungle walk which was pretty challenging for me cause i climbed up there with my slippers and shorts... Went to boh tea plantation and also get to know herbs which are being made into anaseptic, tiger balm, glue.. Night was spent by drinking at the discotecque at the hotel...

23 went back to sg.

In short to conclude. Strawberry hotel is very isolated.. I would prefer to stay in equitorial hotel the next round. And i find that cameron is not as cooling as genting...

Re:Cameron 20 - 23 March - 2008/03/24 13:57 Thank you for posting your CH experience here. It's nice to read it but i find you should do more touch up as it somehow looks plain to me. It's more like your travel itinerary than an account of your trip.

I find Equatorial's location a downfall actually, however i do reckon it's slightly better than strawberry park as it has a few rows of stalls lining up along the road which is just a few minutes' walk away from the hotel. There's a strawberry farm right beside the entrance too(actually i feel it's even more appropriate for me to say it's ATTACHED to the hotel instead of situated beside it..it's like part of the hotel to be honest). I just came back from CH yesterday too, and my trip was simply amazing, it didn't disappoint me at all, after so much anticipation's been put into that trip. Did you see a chinese guy walking around with an indian man during your stay in CH?

Re:Cameron 20 - 23 March - 2008/03/25 20:43 Hello, I am Andrew. I went to CH twice this year with my wife. First trip on 29 Jan 08 to 31st and the most recent one was 17 mar to 20 mar 2008.

April 12-13 is a week-end. You must book your room before you go. I had check with a few hotels heritage, strawberry park, equatorial, century pines, weekend rates are much higher that is around 200 to 300 rm per night. There is one call Rosa Pandesena at Brinchang next to Public Bank. I was told its 168 ringgit for friday & Saturday. This includes breakfast for two.

Infront of the hotel there is a block of shop houses. There is a spa shop and 2 doors away there is this restuarant call "Goodies & oldies" or rather "Oldies and goodies." Here they have good hongkong style noodles, porridge roast ducks, etc. In the evening they also serve steam boat about 36 Rm for two. If you can really eat go ahead or else order something else. They have quite a variety to choose. Most important is they are very friendly and the prices are very reasonable. E.g. a bowl of wanton 10pcs is Rm 5 and a plate of roast duck and pork is Rm 5.50. Most of the single dish is around Rm 5 to Rm 6.

Directly opposite this restuarant is the Catus Valley. Next to the cactus valley is the Big Red Strawberry farm. Free admission to the strawberry farm. But you need to pay to visit the cactus valley. We did not visit the cactus valley because there were plenty of cactus in the strawberry farm. You may also consider Star Regency hotel which is 4 mins walk from Rosa Pandesena.

Just behind Rosa Pandesena is the main Brinchang town. Here plenty of food outlets and all within walking distance. Budget hotels like kowloon hotel, Jasmine Hotel are located here also.

To go to kea Farm you can get a taxi, I drove there so I can't tell you the fare. On saturay night there is a pasar malam at Brinchang, also walking distance from these few hotels I mentioned.

Have a good trip and I am very sure you will go again.

Re:Cameron 20 - 23 March - 2008/03/25 21:01 Hi sorry, the hotel is "Rosa Passadena" and the telephone is 605-4912288. Do confirm the rate with them before you book. If you want to tour cameron highlands ask the hotel to arrange. They use mini bus like vans to bring you around. Most are half day tours.

Re:Cameron 20 - 23 March - 2008/03/26 13:46 LOL, sulphur! I like that comment. I thought i have the look of a typical Malaysian. But, you should've shouted to me!!! Where did you see my hub and I? We spent most of our time relaxing in our hotel room..couch potatoes, as you might say. Keep me informed if you were to go for another trip there.

Re:Cameron 20 - 23 March - 2008/03/26 21:38 Hi I am from Singapore. Both our visits, we stayed at Strawberry Park. Strawberry park are walk up apartments. They may have what you need. We took double superior room. It's for 2 adults. Our weekdays rate was RM 227 per nite and we get rebate of RM 70 per nite. This can be use at their food outlets, the shop or the resort spa. I think this resort provide shuttle service for a fee. They have local tour services and all you need is to ask the reception to arrange for u. It took me about 15mins to drive to Brinchang. About half an hour to Tanah Rata.

Re:Cameron 20 - 23 March - 2008/03/27 11:39 Hi Dalena, its Andrew again. I m from Singapore. If you are not impressed with Star Regency. U should consider "Rosa Passadena" This is a 3star hotel. Their quad room on weekends is Rm 250 per night nett which includes breakfast for 4 person. So u need 2 room for 8 of u. They have so called famly room for weekend is Rm 300 per night, also with breakfast for 4.

Check out their web-site www.cameronpremier.com.my/rosa-passadena
Email: reservations_rosa@cameronpremier.com.my
Tel:05-4912288 Fax 05-4912688

By the way, their price list shows they organise country tour: Per Adult Rm 20 and per child is Rm 15. I suppose its a half day tour. On our next visit we are considering this hotel instead of Strawberry Park.

Re:Cameron 20 - 23 March - 2008/03/27 15:47 You might also want to take the location of the hotel into account. As what i can see from the place i had my meals, star regency seems to be situated very near to the heard of Brinchang town, which brings upon certain advantages and disadvantages and i'm quite sure all of us know what are those pros and cons. Perhaps it could be quite hard for you to get a quiet stay at that hotel, whereas it might be a truly pleasurable experience if you are the adventurous type. Hope this helps. Thanks Andrew Lee for your information, i might try out Strawberry Park on my next trip, the only thing that i find unsatisfactory is the absence of room service.

Re:Cameron 20 - 23 March - 2008/03/27 22:04 That's soooo cool!! Someone told me they don't.

I'll definitely try strawberry park next time. I wonder how do they send over the food since all the rooms are so far from each other..it's more like separated apartment blocks..
