Re:Steamboat - 2008/03/10 17:56 Country Lodge Hotel all the way!!!!(I think i better get them to pay me some commission next time for advertising for them so much here..xD)

Anyway, frans, to be frank, most of the restaurants in CH that i know of are halal and they don't serve pork and beef so you don't have to worry much. There are lots of government schools' seminars being hosted here all year round and you don't expect the muslim teachers to consume pork, do you?

It's nice to know that you are interested in steamboat. We might just bump into each other during our stay, who knows..hehe. Which hotel will you be staying in btw?

Re:Steamboat - 2008/03/11 12:06 What? The Country Lodge steamboat does not provide any beef too?

Re:Steamboat - 2008/03/11 15:51 Yes, i agree that's sort of disappointing. However, i started to realise the reason behind this. There seems to be quite a huge population of Indians staying in CH, so i think they(or even we)should more or less respect them. However, please don't worry about it at all. I'm planning to buy some pork and beef fillet when i go for my trip this coming 19th. It's always nice to pick a quiet corner where you can do anything naughty without getting seen by other people.(don't get me wrong when i say ''naughty'' things.. )

Re:Steamboat - 2008/03/11 17:08 thanks kong...but wat du u mean by not serving pork n beef? the rest still belongs to non-muslim towkeh rite?
hmmm....actually as a muslim, im very particular wif wat i eat...not only bcoz of pork or wat..(not choosy k..i hope u got wat i mean. )

Re:Steamboat - 2008/03/11 21:25 Hmm..that means you wouldn't find any pork or beef on the dining table. By the way, i totally understand your religion and i respect it very much. My husband's a vegetarian and i'm a crazy carnivore., our relationship wouldn't have survived if i don't respect his choice of diet. I don't really get what you said on''watch what we eat'', i don't reckon the people in CH are famous for putting poison into your food. The vegetables might be slightly under cleaned sometimes, but generally you won't find pests or whatever insects in your food. I'm going to CH on the 19th till the 23rd too!

Re:Steamboat - 2008/03/12 15:19 Yo,you're my pal!!!(I'm absolutely crazy over steamboat too! Read through the first few posts in this thread and you'll find that someone actually granted me the title of'' the king of steamboat''!!

The steamboat at rosa pasadena seems to be quite reputable, but i didn't get to try it as no one told me about that before i went to CH last month. I knew they serve steamboat when my husband drove past that hotel, but i was totally put off when i saw the restaurant's decoration, which is too ''westernised'' and i just prefer a simple restaurant where i can truly enjoy the weather in CH. I'll give it a try when i go there this coming wednesday!! I just can't wait anymore!!! Someone please tell me it's 19th today!!That's my hubby's birthday too..so i better get myself to prepare for his birthday present..

hi Kong..
do u really understand the real meaning of 'Halal'?

FYI for all: this including on how the chicken been cut which ought to be in Islamic way. Doesn't mean that a restaurant that doesn't serve beef/pork is considered as Halal restaurant. Except for they've applied for Halal cert & stick big Halal logo infront of the entrance which we Muslim can enter it without any doubt. Plus we are forbid to use utensils, cutlery, etc that have been used to cooked or touch those non-halal food. It means Halal food will never share things with Non-Halal food as talking about 'Halal' food in details is seriously a serious matter. Only we Muslim always have to considerate & prefer not to touch the food at all if we feels any doubt to it. (I'm sorry to brought up this matter as I've thru a case which this restaurant claimed as Halal but served nasi goreng with pork meat! It really a lesson to me..)

No offends but I really can't believe that you are going to do that "naughty" things (I assume that you have done this before), consider while you're doing it besides your table is a Muslim family having their nice dishes..

Re:Steamboat - 2008/06/02 11:20 Hi to Baby.. Sorry to interrupt but I just wanted to give my opinion..

Kong was just saying that for a meat-lover like her, in order for her to enjoy her food and still have respect for the rest who are muslim, she would rather choose a quiet spot so the rest of the diners won't be affected by her bringing of meat. That said, perhaps her choice of words may have offended you. Seriously, some people have no idea what 'halal' constitutes and no wonder too, since one won't be educated in this unless he/she is a muslim. So, pardon our ignorance.

Most of the restaurants in CH are halal too and where else can a meat & steamboat-lover go? While we do respect other religions, we hope that they can also respect and understand us in the same way.
