Disapointed to Cameron Highlands Hotel - 2008/01/10 01:48 I had been read thru all the comman for CH hotel.I really feel very fastrated to CH hotel. How come there's no any Good value hotel in resonable price? I really hope the goverment should take this issue seriosly as CH is a very very nice vacation place. If just let it be what it will be, there's no one will visit there anymore(as I though I better just enjoy the wheather over there and stay over night at Ipoh with more resonable price & better customer service)very very disapointed as one of the visitor said The Iris Hotel Cheated Case, how come A hotel do this kind of thing?what would foreinger looks at us?

Re:Disapointed to Cameron Highlands Hotel - 2008/01/11 21:24 i just went to CH again for 2nd time with Yann, (that's rite, the one on the top). We went to Iris hotel, they again tried to cheat us, but this time worst, they offer a room for 118. once we reach there, they said no more RM 78, RM 88, RM 98 rooms. Last time we chose RM 98. So we went to other hotel to check/survey. Hotel Jasmine gave us peak season price on Thursday! what the heck! Other low budget hotel like Sentosa, Brinchang, Green View, ... etc not really our cup of tea... however, we found one that is not bad which is Rainbow hotel, price is RM 85. the room is kinda clean, they got Astro (very important, coz there's nothing to do at night after 6pm), bathroom is clean. After we check in, we were very hungry, so we went to Silverstar restaurant to have steamboat, guess what? The host is a big liar/cheater. They trick us to grab a steamboat dinner for RM30; we thought we can add dish/food as he said, but after we sitted and finish our first round, we tried to order some meatballs, only then he told us only can add vegetables.

Re:Disapointed to Cameron Highlands Hotel - 2008/02/24 23:03 I'm so sorry to hear about that. I was staying in Equatorial Hotel during my visit last week. It was very well run and the best bit about staying there is, its standard is always maintained at certain level, so you don't have to worry about all sorts of dirty/marketing/promotional tricks which are normally rampant in low cost hotels. It was a nice stay, and we were given food vouchers everyday which could be used for anything categorised as food and beverages(this includes room service!!!!). The food my husband and i ordered were amazingly tastier than what we expected out of..*room service's food* The room price is fairly reasonable as well, which is around rm190 nett for a superior room during off-peak season. However, it might rise ridiculously during peak season and weekends. Our rate was increased to rm268(from 190!!!)during the weekend. So, generally speaking, i would say it's still worth investing in an international hotel if you want to have a quality stay, as far as i know, a slight disappointment will(most of the time)ruin your entire vacation.

Think about it.

Re:Disapointed to Cameron Highlands Hotel - 2008/03/13 22:37 If u survey around here before u head to silverstar
u will know that silverstar is a restricted area
they are well known for cheating and cut throat price

nonetheless, u hav learn ur lesson

Re:Disapointed to Cameron Highlands Hotel - 2008/05/05 00:52 try OK Tuck next time

no OK Tuck is tak ok (not ok)too ... the portion of food is small ... and worst was their unethical practise, when first asked for the bill was RM77+ and requested her to issue receipt, then we need to foot RM81++, asked why she said because add additional 5% if need to issue receipt ... what !@#$%^&* ... told her off and threw the bill to her and requested for 5% back ...

Re:Disapointed to Cameron Highlands Hotel - 2008/07/17 21:49 That is what I tried to tell many people. Unfortunately, many of them criticised me of being biased and too demanding. They always try to defend the hoteliers, F&B and tour operators in Cameron Highlands. Saying their cost of operation is highlah, hard to get farm land in CH, partly is true, but these are not the good reasons to con or cheat tourists in de facto manners or methods. I went to Cameron Highlands so many times I had seen through their tricks already. Whenever I go there, I will never stay in a hotel. I will stay in a condo own by my uncle no doubt you have to climb 4 storey to the top, no lift (Greenhill Apartment). But I "rela hati" (am willing) to do so. Most of the time I cook it in the apartment and I bought the vege directly from the farm, I went to the farm and "kamching" with the farmers and bought it directly there because is cheaper and fresher. Or else those so called look fresh vege at the tourist market are actually sprayed with a layer or chemical so that it can stay fresh longer and the price is higher to because want to con tourists mah. That's why I advise to buy the vege and fruits at the local wet markets in Tanah Rata and Brinchang, price is more reasonable and no spray-on "fresh" chemical too. So folks! Have a nice day in Cameron Highlands!

PS: Sorry for the lousy grammar and wrong spelling.

Re:Disapointed to Cameron Highlands Hotel - 2008/07/17 22:42 No worries at all, Jeffrey. I think you have been most helpful. Anyone willing to spend time to warn/ advice other potential visitor are most noble in my opinion. In fact, I believe i will benefit from your advice. I'll be going to CH with my family next week. I estimate that out of our 6-7 meals there, I will at least spend 1-2 meals cooking at the apartment (Arabella). Nothing fancy. Just use the rice cooker and do some basic steamboat. Maybe experiment a bit and use some "alternative" soup base like bak kut teh etc.

The thing is, I've bought all the usual meat based dishes to bring to CH but i want to get the vegetables when i reach there to try out the freshness of it. I'll definitely take your advice and try to get it from the wet market. Any idea what time they close? Cos i estimate reaching there by 1pm or so...maybe 2pm.

Re:Disapointed to Cameron Highlands Hotel - 2008/07/18 17:23 Well, there are two public wet markets in Cameron Highlands. One of them is in Tanah Rata and another one is in Brinchang. Once you reach these two towns, there is even sign board tell you where the wet market is. Usually is behind the town main street. They usually opens very early in the morning and most of their fresh stuff will sold out around 10:30am. But better be there earlier. Have a nice trip in Cameron Highlands!

Spot on Jeffrey!
self made food (steamboat to be precise)is most recommended in the highlands
especially public holidays, the merchants are hanging their parang in the shop
i normally go to my fren's farm and get the freshest vege available. He has unlimited supplies of cabbage and "long sou chou" for me
