Re:SOLVED! The Mysterious Disappearance of Jim Thompson, the - 2006/06/09 16:51 Edward
I was just in CH two weekends ago and I did visit Moonlight, although I was given only 5 minutes by the caretaker to look around. There is a "for sale" sign outside the gate and the caretaker said ths going price was RM 3.8 mil.
I'm also looking high and low for your book both on Amazon and MH but with no luck. Any updates on where to get a copy??

Many thanks

A. "Moonlight" bungalow

Thanks for visiting "Moonlight" villa. I am indeed pleased you included a visit to this place while you were on holiday at the Cameron Highlands. I do not know what you observed while you were at the premises for "only five minutes". If you came across anything interesting, please feel free to share it with us.

Re:SOLVED! The Mysterious Disappearance of Jim Thompson, the - 2006/06/19 17:56 Actually I've been a little obsessed about Moonight for a while now. I could not see much in 5 minutes and I am not psychic or anything but I did get a distinct impression. There was a kind of silence there I could not break. I felt like I was stepping back into the past.

I am interested in finding out more about the bungalow's history so perhaps if possible I can correspond with you off list for some help or pointers with information.

Thanks
Mona

Re:SOLVED! The Mysterious Disappearance of Jim Thompson, the - 2006/10/01 20:31 Dear Mr De Souza,

Do you have any plans of visiting the Highlands at the end of this month?

Re:SOLVED! The Mysterious Disappearance of Jim Thompson, the - 2006/10/11 17:45 Dear Chandra3,

Thanks for the reminder.

I don't think I would be able to make it to the Cameron Highlands at the end of this month. If all goes well, I will try my best to be at the resort before the year comes to a close.

Regards and best wishes.

Re:SOLVED! The Mysterious Disappearance of Jim Thompson, the - 2006/12/23 20:28 Dear Mr De Souza,

Any plans of organising a function concerning Jim Thompson's disappearance from the Cameron Highlands come March 2007.

Re:SOLVED! The Mysterious Disappearance of Jim Thompson, the - 2007/01/08 13:57 Hi Edward,

I read your book a couple of years ago and I have to admit I was captivated by Jim Thompson's disappearance. You’ve written the book in such a way that it was more like a mystery novel that had no ending. And I believe every reader would have the urge to solve it.
I will be visiting Cameron Highlands in a few months time and will be staying in Moonlight Bungalow. Do you think there is anything I should know or should look forward to during my stay there?

Re:SOLVED! The Mysterious Disappearance of Jim Thompson, the - 2007/01/12 23:10 Dear Keeran,

I'm glad you would be heading for the Highlands over the next couple of months.

I have been told that there has been a change of ownership as far as "Moonlight" is concerned. If this is really so, I hope your trip to the resort would not be done away with.

Regards and best wishes.

Dear Mr De Souza

I read your book .Thanks for solving a 40-year old mystery. I must say that your write up on "Thompson",the taxi driver, was indeed interesting.
I was wondering if you would be prepared to have it featured in this forum.

Best Regards,

mark

Re: SOLVED! The Mysterious Disappearance of Jim Thompson, th - 2007/01/28 16:25 Dear Mark,

Thanks for the compliments.

Here is an excerpt of "Thompson" which was featured in my book's Epilogue:

"Thompson" -- the taxi driver who fetched Jim and Constance from Tapah to Moonlight -- has not only mellowed with age; equally intriguing, he has also accepted the nickname "Thompson" despite the fact that he has a given Chinese name. To date, many things have been said about him -- some true, some false. For instance, just after it became known that Jim was lost, there has been this talk that Jim hired his taxi and instructed him to stop and wait for him near the T-junction of Jalan Kamunting. This account, sad to say, is not true. According to "Thompson", Jim never made use of his services while he was residing at the chateau. What actually transpired was this: when it became clear that Jim was missing, "Thompson" decided to go into the woods to look for him. While doing so, he got lost along the way. Much later, his family members were informed that his unattended vehicle was spotted near the T-junction of Jalan Kamunting. Sensing that something was not right, they engaged the services of a few aborigines to go out and look for him. A couple of days later, he was discovered in the jungles of Gopeng. After this episode, he became known to one and all in the neighbourhood as "Thompson".

I visited http://bbs.keyhole.com/ubb/showthreaded.php/number/736923
I must say that the satellite view of cameron highlands was indeed impressive.
In short it was like being in a helicoptor in search of Jim Thompson.

best regards
