First Cameron Trip: Happy & Traumatising - 2007/04/12 17:02
I'll try to make this post as simple and informative as possible so other CH 1st timers can get some insights in planning their 1st trip there  This post will be written from a singaporean POV.
1) Coach from Singapore to Cameron
3 weeks before our holiday (5th April - 8th April), we went down personally to the Golden Mile Complex near Lavender MRT to buy our coach tickets. We got the cheapest coach $97/seat from the only agency with coach vacancy leftovers. The rest only had tour packages (coach + hotel) which are costly.
Coach prices can jack up to nearly 2 times during peak season so if possible avoid such periods!
2) Coach ride
We slept through most of the journey hence were spared the motion sicknes. But get some pills and eat them as soon as u board to assure urself. The coach was scheduled to stop at Brinchang but we made personal request to the bus driver to allow us to alight at Tanah rata because its nearer to our accommodation.
Tip: special alighting request, ask the driver not the tour agency xp
3) CH Tour package
The bus let us down right infront of this official looking Tourism Bureau (small Yellow dome shaped building) where we can buy 1 day or half day CH tour package. The most expensive I saw was 65RM. The bureau (i think thats its name) is situated in the heart of tanah rata and has a few computers to rent for going online.
Personally I would recommend 1st timers to take their tours up on the 1st day like us. Because their service is good, professional and friendly. They will pick you up at ur hotel if you request And because Cameron's attraction are mostly not accessible without transport, they help solve that problem too. I think its a worry free solution  Explorations can wait till later.
4) Transport
The most important thing in CH; transport. If you're lucky to have your own car then great. Otherwise you could take the easy way out and hail/book a cab like me XD. The rate I saw there then was RM20/hr and they will bring you anywhere you want and even wait for you to finish your visit. Recommended if you are travelling in bigger pax. If you're looking for a 1 way transport, they also charge per ride. There is a pretty big taxi gathering place just beside the new Bus Terminal in Tanah Rata. Try asking anyone standing there, they're most probably drivers And dont ask me anything about buses 
My friends and I booked a cab for 5hours on day 2 and we managed to go places like Boh Tea plantation, Bee Farm and Insect Musuem (Butterfly garden). The Tea farm was so awe inspiring!!! pity we couldnt quite capture with our camera *_*
5) Food
To be honest, this is one thing we didnt quite explore. First day we had steamboat in brinchang. It was a bundled package along with the Tour package we took up at the tourism bureau (RM 65! Great deal ). I'm sorry that I didnt note down the name of the restaurantx-x. The food we pretty norm, some chicken slice, cuttle fish, fishballs, crabsticks and lots of vegetables. The soup was pretty good though
We also had indian food at this indian restaurant behind the tourist bureau building. A portion of the restaurant had pretty red walls and open windows . Value for money and tasty 
Our last meal in CH was so terrible that it still traumatises us till now! We had chinese food at this Hong Kong Restaurant. Situated beside Mayflower Restaurant and opposite the Bus terminal. Not only did they serve us unhygienic food they even shouted and threw verbal abuses at us when we confronted them! Things got so bad that we even had to call the police down!!!! This totally ruined our whole good impression towards Cameron and Malaysia-_-. Somehow...I'm scared of everything malaysia now. I have never had such bad service in a restaurant before! Highly disappointed!!!!
6) Accomodation
We went budget and stayed at Krs Pines Guest House (new building of Twin Pines). We took the private room for 2 with attached toilet at RM20+/night.
We are all very satisfied with the personnels and cleanliness there. Twin Pines is situated very near town and is also the only guesthouse we found that allowed us to book online and reserve rooms in advance !

Robinson Waterfall. Oh along the way into the waterfall there was a house that sells lovely homemade blackberry jam Only place in CH!

u take great pictures, wow i am impressed, i just came back from CH too i like the environment i follow my sis in law which book tour from agency in golden mile too, we are very upsad on the way back, the coach bring u to genting before coming back to singapore.we spent the whole day in the coach. the number of ""stars"" from that tour agency should reduce.

Asking questions without making any further research IS wrong. Anyway, i really think you should improve your internet searching skill. If you don't find anything under cameron highlands tourism bureau, just cancel cameron highlands and search again! I did, and it came up straight away on the first page. Tourism bureau is the official tourist information centre. Therefore, we can more or less safely deduce that Cameron Highlands Tourism Bureau is the official tourism information centre for Cameron Highlands! You don't have to be so pedantic when you search on the net, it's all about try and error. No one cares if the terms aren't exact, as long as some of they match the one you want to find.
