Incinerator in Cameron Highlands?!! - 2006/03/24 22:56 Hello dear forummers,

I was highly alarmed by the following article which surfaced in The Star a few days ago:

http://thestar.com.my/lifestyle/story.asp?file=/2006/3/21/lifefocus/ 13701886&sec=lifefocus

An excerpt from article above:

"Alam Flora’s strategy for the Klang Valley includes two landfills, an incinerator and nine waste transfer stations. For Pahang, it is planning landfills in Kuantan, Temerloh and Bentong, and an incinerator in Cameron Highlands."

This is crazy! Can anyone verify if this is actually true?

Re:Incinerator in Cameron Highlands?!! - 2006/03/26 22:06 Won't this be a good thing for the highlands? The current method of waste disposal here is definately not environmental friendly.

Re:Incinerator in Cameron Highlands?!! - 2006/03/27 21:52 Incinerators are itself a controversial method of disposing waste. How to resolve garbage problems? "Oh, just burn them in incinerators." Yeah, and when we burn stuff, where do the emmissions go? Into the air of course!

No wonder these guys have protested aggressively:

Why are we introducing incinerators into Malaysia when we have obvious historical accounts of its negative effects in other countries?

We love Cameron Highlands for its clean air. Do you still want a garbage incinerator in Cameron Highlands?
