I heard from news, ecoli have been spread all around Cameron drink water, the purpose I post this is to ask and inform everyone about how to beware of this thing, most of the bacteria will die after water been boiled to 100 C, please confirm on this thing, though, some bacteria just wearming up after 120 C, but I think this ecoli is not hard to kill, someone please confirm on this thing, so that we will be save and out of any inconvenience. and we do love Cameron Highlands.

Regard,

Dear Lew Chieh Chee,
Greetings. I wish to shed some light to your queries on E.coli and its health hazards.

There are serveral hundred strains of the bacterium Escherichia coli, E. coli. The strain E. coli 0157:H7 is an emerging cause of foodborne and waterborne illness. Although most strains of E.coli are harmless and live in the intestines of healthy humans and animals, the E.coli 0157:H7 strain produces a powerful toxin and can cause severe illness.

The known method of protecting yourself from drinking contaminated water is to boil your water for one minute at a rolling boil, longer at higher altitudes. To find out more information, go to:

Re:E. coli .... Its facts - 2004/12/28 16:03 WC, pls READ the posting before shooting off your mouth, the advise given was for consumable water from the taps... "The known method of protecting yourself from drinking contaminated water is to boil your water for one minute at a rolling boil, longer at higher altitudes."

Common sense ought to prevail.... can families afford to buy mineral water for their drinking supply, cooking and etc? Obviously no. Thats y the advise given is justified. Obviously u again didnt understand wat was posted and made light of the matter.

Pls refrain from making such serious issues of rightful consumable water that is afforded to citizens of Malaysia, protected under the Federal Constitution, a joke.

Until u have suffered lack of amenities, these issues like e.coli and deaths caused by water pollution will be a laughin matter to u. But not to those affected.

Re:E. coli .... Its facts - 2004/12/28 18:13 chill out...e-coli or not, we hav to boil water bfore we drink...wat i said is if CH visitor is still worried about drinking water in e-coli area, they can drink mineral water as an alternative, and I'm not treating this issue as an laughing stock..pls dun simply accuse someone....

i didn't advise to use mineral water to cook...didn't i? All i comment is the DRINKING WATER and is the mineral water too expensive for a family to buy, if they wish to drink mineral water as a safe pre-caution for their family? Is that an in-correct comment?
