Re:Try To Do More........ - 2004/10/05 00:57 Hi there,
Good to hear about this initiative. In fact, Forestry Dept would be very supportive of this idea of trail marking and mapping. They also have an annual budget for these sort of things, and any help from the community would be helpful.

Some time back, in Fraser's Hill there was a group of volunteers under Raleigh International who did trail signposts using heavy hard wood, and it is still functional after about 7 years, just needs some repairs and maintenance from time to time.

Vandalism is another issue which needs to be addressed when considering the material for the signposts. IMHO either hard wood or metal is the best. What do you guys think?

Re:Try To Do More........ - 2004/10/05 09:40 Thanks for starting all these guys. Th signposts are great! I go to CH once annually for the past 3 years now. One of the activities we used to do is to walk (not possible in the steaming lowlands) from town to town. We walked from Kea farm to Brinchang and from Brinchang to Tanah Rata. Noticed that the road could do with some protective railings (with night illumination) and a footpath. yes, sounds expensive but this is a good thing to attract cityfolks to healthy living. - walking.

hi WC, that is a good idea for humans, but bad for the wildlife who may get disoriented with artificial light sources. Also, some plants may get the wrong idea that the sun is still up.

suggest that vehicles have fog lights installed. and those who want to walk.. hmmm.. no idea, what about installing infra red lenses in our eyes?
