PLease help - I'm from Scotland! - 2003/07/14 15:37 My parents and my boyfriend are coming over with me for a friend's wedding in the Klang Valley on Aug 30 and we hope to spend a few days after the wedding in the Cameron Highlands.

Can anyone help me decide which town to stay in, and which hotels are better. We are looking for a mid price range - not too expensive though.

I have looked at a few web sites, but a lot of the information is confusing.

Please reply if you can help us.
Ellen.

Re: PLease help - I'm from Scotland! - 2003/07/15 03:05 Dear Ellen,

I last stayed at the Equatorial Cameron Highlands and it was a great hotel. My family enjoyed it very much.

It is the only International Chain Hotel and is located at the highest point of the higlnad thus the temperature is very nice and pleasing, +- 20 degrees, natural aircondition comfort.

In the same vicinity is the Kea FArm where you can easily visit the farms (veges, fruits and flowers), Bee and Butterfly Farms, Tea Plantations etc, all within walking distance.

A cardigan would be handy for the elderly and kids. Good comfortable walking shoes also an advantage.

Equatorial website is: www.equatorial.com

This chain also have 2 hotels in the Klang Valley, one in Kuala Lumpur and one in Bangi (south of Kuala Lumpur).

Good luck and God Bless.

Re: PLease help - I'm from Scotland! - 2003/07/16 00:09 Since you did not quote a price it is difficult to advise you. So just follow Neo's advice and while you are here, you can check out the scene and switch hotels according to your fancy. If you happen to come here during the "off season", choices abound.

Re: PLease help - I'm from Scotland! - 2003/07/16 15:02 Sorry to not quote a price - we have been looking at the Heratige Hotel and the Equatorial Hotel too, although the web sites I have been looking at don't give a good reveiw with the Equatorial.

We are looking for something around the RM120 price. I have been surfing all the cheap discount pages around but have probably narrowed it down to either of those. I would love to stay in the Lakehouse, but it's out of our buget.

Re: PLease help - I'm from Scotland! - 2003/07/22 20:41 Try Heritage Hotel. YOu will be pleasantly surprised. Notwithstanding negative reviews, they do have good things to offer.

Go to Travel dialogue site in this webpage and click on the posting under headline "Steamboat Dinner" to see comments about my recommendation and the view by some others who have recently stayed at the Equatorial since some refurbishment exercise done by them.

Good luck and enjoy.

Re: PLease help - I'm from Scotland! - 2003/09/09 07:59 Thanks for all your help in finding a hotel. Unfortunately it was decided to visit Melaka instead, so we stayed at the Equatorial in Melaka for a few days.

It was after my friends wedding so it was spent relaxing mostly.
SO thanks for all your help and I'll keep the site bookmarked for the next visit to Malaysia.

Re: PLease help - I'm from Scotland! - 2003/11/25 23:57 Dear Vicky,

I would recommend the Equatorial Cameron Highlands, my favourite hotel. Value for money, good facilities, great location.

You can contact them at reservation@cam.equatorial.com to the attention of Reservations Manager / Ms. Theo.

Good luck and cheers
