Best lodging around? - 2001/06/09 13:58 It has been over almost 20 years since I have been back to CH. And I always wanted to make a trip back, but because of the hectic lifestyle and the number of businesses that I run, it is almost close to impossible to always make the time for a quick vacation. Anyway, this year, I will definitely make a trip back to CH. And I look forward to a trip to CH sometime this Sept or Oct.

Anyway, this time I will be bring a girl I recently met along with me. She needs a holiday and I thought it would be a perfect destination to bring her to since I cannot be away for long and CH has always been a stress reliever for me during my school days. And a five day trip would be just excellent for me.

Being net savvy I have been exploring around which hotels are available and I came across The Lakehouse. I have some impressions of The Lakehouse and I think it is a good place to stay. But I would like some comments about the place or if there is a better place to stay. I am basically looking for the top of the line hotels. Just to give you somewhat of an idea of my needs. I normally fly 1st class or business class and am used to staying at Ritz Carlton. I am a sticker for personal service. I was at The Lakehouse website and something that bothered me was that there are NO TVs in the rooms at The Lakehouse or am I wrong? My budget is something like S$500 per night. Any suggestions would be good. I love peace and tranqulity!

As this time I am going with someone special (we have barely begun dating and I like to do something really special for her), I was wondering if anyone can give some really good suggestions where to bring her? I was thinking of having a picnic out in the open...suggestions anyone? Also was wondering if there are any horse trails, she has said that she would love to do horse riding and want to surprise her. Anyway, I am also driving up and wonder if any Singaporeans have any suggestions for me.

Thanks.

Re: Best lodging around? - 2001/06/25 05:43 If you love peace and tranqulity, why bothered if there's no TV. CH is a place where you should "disconnect" yourself from the world. Switch-off your mobile phone, leave your PDA at home, throw away the TV, then...you and partner can enjoy yourselves.

Staying in a hotel (top of the line) would be the same around the world regardless of the locations, hotels, names, brand, etc. It's just a hotel...including Ritz Carlton. Nothing great about that.

Peace...

P/S
who cares if you're a net savy, top of the line, 1st class flier, number of businesses, Ritz Carlton, bla bla bla...typical...

Re: Best lodging around? - 2001/06/26 04:48 Try Smoke House. I believe it's the best (boutique) hotel in CH. Have fun!

Regards.

Re: Best lodging around? - 2001/09/04 07:16 so you've been to CH already? i wonder whether you've been to a special lodging, the best lodging in CH, i guess. no joke! but then S$500 is not enough to stay there. there is a magnificient driveway with security guards. your safety will be ensured all day long. there are butler service as well as limousine service. I don't really know how to describe the way there, but it's somewhere off Bringchang.

the best way to get there is by helicopter.

this is really the best lodging in CH - it's the Pahang royalty's holiday
residence.

Re: Best lodging around? - 2001/10/19 14:45 Why don't you get your butler to make all the arrangements for you instead of wasting your precious time surfing the web? That way, you can relax more and enjoy your first-class lifestyle.

Re: Best lodging around? - 2001/10/19 14:49 No TV??? Well perhaps you should try to find a peaceful and relaxing place where you can plug in your laptop for broadband internet access, and view CNN online. That way, you can also spend your relaxation time posting stupid messages to travel bulletin boards.
Have a nice trip

Re: Best lodging around? - 2001/10/19 15:17 Franky, Michael, I don't think that CH is going to be able to satisfy your discrimating taste for high service, and the availability of TV on a restful getaway. May I suggest that, instead, you opt for a first class air ticket for you and your girly to Monte Carlo, where all the conveniences of a service-oriented lifestyle are available. Peace and quiet can easily be obtained by instructing your butler to switch off your TV and to screen all your calls.

Enjoy your trip.

Re: Best lodging around? - 2001/11/12 02:00 why waste the money, just bring her to a cheap geylang hotel and screw her. spend all the money to CH, stupid.

Re: Best lodging around? - 2001/11/29 10:32 Oh my! Poor Michael... receiving all these kind of replies. Give him a break. He probably wouldn't need my pity either given that he is a highflyer! But, reading all the above threads is rather comical. Well, I wonder whether Michael actually went to CH with the girl!

Lets hope we have a sequel to this.
