I tried it during my trip to Cameron last 2 weeks. It is really delicious.

Re:any place to shop during weekday tour?? heheh - 2008/06/09 19:45 Well, that looks like a standard list of attractions, istari. (No offense).

OK, i'll just drop a few words here based on my personal experience in CH.

The butterfly farms, Vegetable farms or any other farms are(to be honest)not worth visiting. You may if you wish but speaking from the perspective of a person who doesn't fancy plants that much, i think my visits to those places were simply a waste of time and money. Strawberry farms are OK as we don't get that anywhere in Malaysia due to the tropical climate. The strawberries aren't that sweet but, edible and it could taste great with a little bit of whipped cream or other dressings.

Now, a visit to the Pasar Malam is a MUST, in my opinion. You get all sorts of food items and potted plants on sale there. There are also quite a few ''char kueh teow'' stalls around but expect a long queue if you were to buy it. Teh Boh's plantation is another place which you don't want to miss. It's quite a tedious drive up to that place as the road is extremely narrow and there are signs along the way asking you to honk whenever you reach a sharp bent so that the person who's coming in the opposite direction could hear you and slow down. Putting that aside, a cup of stomach-warming tea with a few scones at a place surrounded by misty clouds beats all those trouble one has to take to reach there, wouldn't it?

I decided not to go further into bee farm when i just walked ten steps into it as i saw a horrific sign stating that ''the farm owner is responsible for any mishap/injuries''. My bee-farm trip ended up with two huge slices of honey-bee comb. They tasted FANTASTIC! Don't swallow the comb though, i was told.

So, i guess this is the end of my ''honest guide of tourist attractions'' for a non-plant lover.

Re:any place to shop during weekday tour?? heheh - 2008/06/10 10:58 The moral behind the shopping activities in Cameron Highlands is you don't like or do not have interest in agriculture products, you'd better not shop or visit Cameron Highlands. Because the common or norm items to shop or visit in Cameron Highlands involves 90% agriculture products and 10% other handicraft (e.g. clothings printed with Cameron Highlands or wood carvings etc). Have a nice trip in Cameron Highlands!

Re:any place to shop during weekday tour?? heheh - 2008/06/10 14:11 I can't agree more with what you said, caroline.

But to me, the use of agricultural products seems slightly inappropriate as that covers everything that has to do with, well, agriculture. There are stuff that are sold raw and certain ones that have been processed, for example, cooked foods. The wood carvings looked cool to me but the exorbitant price just took me off my interest.

Re:any place to shop during weekday tour?? heheh - 2008/06/10 21:31 That depends on the place that you stay at, too.

I bet you wouldn't get it in towns like Brinchang.

On the flip side of the coin, you can't have the convenience as what towns, like Brinchang, can offer.

On a side note, I'm not so sure what are the expectations for the new generation of visitors. But back than (many years ago), we visited CH for the agricultural beauty and weather. Shopping was not on our list of things to do, other than to buy agriculture produces. Neither was entertainment. If you are expecting CH to have all that and much more, than I would suggest you try Genting, KL or Penang. You will be happier with their offering.

I visit CH for the views and cool weather.

Rgds

Re:any place to shop during weekday tour?? heheh - 2008/06/12 20:09 Don't get me wrong, SinChee. I love CH for its serenity and awesome climate too! (though the former isn't true during peak seasons). I never bother to buy any vegetables as i don't cook(apparently, at this age). I personally prefer Brinchang over Tanah Rata as it doesn't seem to be as compact and busy as the latter.

I'll be spending three days at Penang(purely for its food!!!)and another 4 days in Cameron Highlands after finishing my exams. One more week to go~~woop woop!!
