5-day Treck Advice - 2008/11/21 12:50 My 21-year-old daughter and I wish to journey into Malaysia by car for 6 days commencing 8 December. I live in Singapore and she lives in Australia. During this time we are hoping to drive to an area where we can do some day trekking, staying in simple accommodation (villages) by night. We are moderately fit and experienced walkers - I estimate that 12-15 km's per day would be relatively easy for us.

Hopefully we can travel at elevation (away from the heat) and also somewhere not inhabited by too many tourists. I have been looking at Gunung Tahan in Teman Negara National Park, but I understand that climbing this peak requires a guide and in any case is closed during December. I have heard wonderful things about the Cameron or Genting Highlands, but from the available information I have not been able to see sufficient evidence that we could do the day trekking and staying in simple accommodation (villages) by night.

Your valuable advice will be much appreciated.
