Strawberry Park - 2008/04/21 13:36 I'm planning a trip to CP with my husband n 2 kids age 2. I would appreciate comment on this hotel or which other hotel will be more suitable.

Re:Strawberry Park - 2008/04/21 20:09 You have made a good choice, provided you have your own transport. Very relaxing, but nothing much for the kids except a small play ground. There is a strawberry farm in the resort itself. Check with reception on the opening time. There is also a indoor swimming pool. Beautiful Garden and rather scenic. Do go slow for the kids when u go up and down the resort road. There is a couple of turns like U-Turnon this road. But nothing to worry about. Wishing you a pleasant trip.

Re:Strawberry Park - 2008/04/29 16:08 Hi C.K.

How do u find the hotel?
Is it cold at night? How abt hot water, do i have to turn on the heater for a while before taking a bath?
As for the food, do they have food for young toddlers?

Re:Strawberry Park - 2008/04/29 19:35 Hi b2t,

The resort is nice, it was cold at night for both my trips in Jan & Mar 08. For hot water, yes you need to turn on the switch n wait for about 20mins. And the hot water will run for about 15 mins if you let it flow continously. Suggest you turn off during soaping. Or else you may encounter hot water run out. I always try to keep my shower within 15 mins so its ok. Next person should wait about 15 mins before shower, to allow water to get hot.

As for toddler's food, I have no ideas. U may check with reception during booking. There is a small gift shop in the resort. By the way the food outlets only serve up to 10 or 10.30pm.

Re:Strawberry Park - 2008/04/30 16:18 Hi b2t, Strawberry Park has a few local tours, plantation/farm/jungle treking etc. U can choose the tour that u prefer. Price is about about the same with other operators. We have not gone on any of the tours. We have our own transport. If you have your own transport, go on your own. U wont get lost. Don't venture into the jungle with your little ones. All farms and most of the places of interest are accessible by car.

The Spa in the resort is good, decent massage at Rm 90 per hour. U may use the rebate of your room for the massage instead of using it on F & B. Check their promotion at the reception. My was a studio apt so the rebate is Rm70 per night. So our massage was Rm 180 for 2, we top up Rm110.

If u have your own transport, go to "Oldies & Goodies" restaurant, breakfast, lunch & dinner. This is at Brinchang Point. Near Star Regency Hotel or rather opposite the Cactus Valley & the "Big Red Strawberry Farm". Here the food is reasonable & good. They serve porridges/congees and various type of noodles (Hongkong styles). Across the road is the Cactus Valley and the Big Red Strawberry Farm. Free admission for the Strawberry farm. Both the restaurant and the farm opens at 8am. I suppose your little ones will love the porridges.

Re:Strawberry Park - 2008/04/30 17:12 C.K.

We do not drive, will be travelling to CH by coach. So am checking out the tours conducted by the Resort. Will go slow with the kids, since it is our 1st trip with them

Spa - ah, i will definitely give it a try. The price sounds reasonable.

Food - Oldies, do they serve steamboat as well? I heard that steamboat is a must eat @ CH cos the ingredients are fresh. Is this so?

Strawberry farms - any particular ones that u would recommend since there are a handful there..

Have you been to the waterfall? Boh plantation?

Am really getting excited about our trip there now....

Cheers,
b2t

Re:Strawberry Park - 2008/04/30 20:20 Hi b2t, Well by coach is still fine. Yes Oldies & Goodies restaurant does serve steam-boat dinner. The other restaurant I been to is O.K.Tuck's steam-boat. Its about Rm 18 per adult at both restaurants. Kids should be free or you can order something else for them. Do visit "Big Red Strawberry Farm. They have a cafeteria there, strawberry ice-cream, scones etc. No I have not been to the water-falls, because my car cannot go in and some need to trek in quite a distance. From map some are about a few kms. The Boh plantations we visited is the one btw Tanah Rata & Ringlets. This is by the road side. The better one at Sungei Palas, we are yet to visit.

Since you have no transport u can take the tours organised by the resort. It starts at and end at the resort. You need to choose which tour you prefer, they have shopping, adventures, plantation visits, farms, jungle trekking etc.

Most are half days tour, so u still have times to venture on your own. If I am not wrong Strawberry Resort do have shuttle service to Tanah Rata & Brinchang. I don't know if its free, check it out, receptions are very friendly. Walk to the end of the Resort there is a strawberry farm own by the resort. We had no chance to go in because of fertilizing period. Anything you need talk to the receptionist they will help you.

Once again I wish the family a pleasant trip. U will be looking forward to go again.

Re:Strawberry Park - 2008/05/20 12:03 Just returned from SP yesterday. My wife and i enjoyed the stay there. There is an old world charm about this place.

Pluses:
Rooms- The rooms were quite large and spacious and so were the bathrooms. Infact we personally felt that the excess bathroom space was a waste. The flooring was completely wooden which is a good idea keeping in mind the cold. Overall quite comfortable

Service: Good. We just used the restaurant (Jim Thomson Terrace-JTT).

Food: The grub consists of decent variety at decent prices. The morning breakfast buffet has a good spread.

Minuses:
Location: Oh God!!! Its so far away. There is absolutely nothing nearby. Its about 5 kms from Brinchang town and residents are completely dependant upon the shuttle buses. We though of walking from the town but gave up the idea since the road is quite deserted and might not be safe

Overall:
I enjoyed my stay and would defintely recommend it to my fellow travellers
3.5/5
