Andrew Hi Michelle, thank you for your advice regarding driving to Pulau Langkawi. Sept I plan to drive to CH from Singapore again. My wife loves CH very much and this will be our 3rd trip this year. To us every trip is memorable. To some of our friends, they feel we are crazy to drive over 8 hours just to go to CH. Next time when u are there, just opposite the Big Red Strawberry Farm, there is a row of shop houses, look out for "Oldies & Goodies" restaurant. The foods there are good and reasonably priced. Hong kong style noodle with roast meats, congees and steamboat dinner is also available. Do go again to CH. Once again thank you.
michelle Hi Andrew, sorry for the late reply. Didn't realize that there is question posted to me. Yes, its a very exciting trip, this is my first trip without hiring travel agent (except half day trip with Go Highland travel).

I choose to stay in in Brinchang because the cactus valley, Big Red strawberry, and night market is within walking distance. I like the night market, variety of food is offered. Personally i feel that Sg. Balas Boh Tea plantation, Ros Garden is must go places and do experience with pick your own strawberry.

Going to Langkawi from CH via driving is not recommended. The Langkawi Island only reachable via ferry. I'm not sure whether there is service to transfer your car to the Island. Anyway, there are many car rental services in Langkawi at reasonable price, they have counters at ferry terminal in Kuala Kedah.

Anyway, if you're not driving, make sure you allocate enough time for your trip to travel from CH to Langkawi. I took 7 hours to reach Alor Setar (transit via Butterworth), half hours (local bus) to reach Kuala Kedah and another 1.5 hours (ferry) to reach the Langkawi Island. Hopefully my experience is useful to you
Andrew Hello Michelle, How about sharing your trip to Cameron Highland and Langkawi. Anything exciting. Thank You. I like Cameron Highland and have been considering going to Langkawi from CH. I was told I can't drive direct to Pulau Langkawi.
Michelle Just come back from the trip. Manage to catch bus from Tanah Rata to Butterworth then transit to Alor Setar. If you stay at Brinchang, you can buy the bus ticket from the Shell Station.

I found that we can also transit to Alor Setar from Medan Gopeng but make sure you book ticket earlier. When the bus stop by Medan Gopeng, i check with a few bus co. that provide service to Alor Setar, found the bus are full. Its safer to catch bus from Butterworth, there are more frequent buses from Butterworth to Alor Setar.
Michelle Thank you. Anyone knows which bus xpress provide se rvices from Tapah to Alor Setar? I wish to contact them for schedule details.
admin If you like to be in the boat longer, you can take a ferry from Penang too.

If bus, personally I would consider a bus to Alor Setar from Tapah or Ipoh because then I would not have to divert to Penang. The only thing is the frequency of the bus to your destination at your choice of start, for which I have no info.
