I'll be reaching in the afternoon. No wet market for me it seems. What about some farms that u guys can recommend to me? Some friends in the highlands maybe, that can take care of a newbie like myself |

That is what I tried to tell many people. Unfortunately, many of them criticised me of being biased and too demanding. They always try to defend the hoteliers, F&B and tour operators in Cameron Highlands. Saying their cost of operation is highlah, hard to get farm land in CH, partly is true, but these are not the good reasons to con or cheat tourists in de facto manners or methods. I went to Cameron Highlands so many times I had seen through their tricks already. Whenever I go there, I will never stay in a hotel. I will stay in a condo own by my uncle no doubt you have to climb 4 storey to the top, no lift (Greenhill Apartment). But I "rela hati" (am willing) to do so. Most of the time I cook it in the apartment and I bought the vege directly from the farm, I went to the farm and "kamching" with the farmers and bought it directly there because is cheaper and fresher. Or else those so called look fresh vege at the tourist market are actually sprayed with a layer or chemical so that it can stay fresh longer and the price is higher to because want to con tourists mah. That's why I advise to buy the vege and fruits at the local wet markets in Tanah Rata and Brinchang, price is more reasonable and no spray-on "fresh" chemical too. So folks! Have a nice day in Cameron Highlands!
PS: Sorry for the lousy grammar and wrong spelling.
Spot on Jeffrey!
self made food (steamboat to be precise)is most recommended in the highlands
especially public holidays, the merchants are hanging their parang in the shop
i normally go to my fren's farm and get the freshest vege available. He has unlimited supplies of cabbage and "long sou chou" for me

Well, there are two public wet markets in Cameron Highlands. One of them is in Tanah Rata and another one is in Brinchang. Once you reach these two towns, there is even sign board tell you where the wet market is. Usually is behind the town main street. They usually opens very early in the morning and most of their fresh stuff will sold out around 10:30am. But better be there earlier. Have a nice trip in Cameron Highlands! |
