Here are some tips and updates which you may find useful if you are planning to head up to Cameron Highlands in the near future.

Road Condition:
If you are driving from KL along the NS highway, please take note that the road widening works are still ongoing from Sungai Buloh onwards. On some stretches only one lane is open so plan your journey to avoid any delays.

The Tapah - CH road is in generally in good condition. Watch out for small potholes and uneven roads along the way. There may also be fallen branches on the road due to the rain but these are normal occurrences.

The Simpang Pulai - CH road would be a good choice if you dread the driving up the winding Tapah route but take note that the traffic volume will be higher here. This may not be a big problem as the road is wider and less winding. Remember to keep your right foot in check at all times.

Weather:

The weather in CH has become very unpredictable these days however do expect showers all day long. You can check for the 7-day weather forecast here.

Food:
the Colonel has finally make his mark in CH! Opened less than a month ago, KFC may not be a welcome sight for those who come up here to get away from the city but it does give you a choice of something familiar. The KFC is located in Brinchang next to the Shell station.

The kopitiam craze has reached CH too. Uncle Chow's Kopitiam opened recently at the Rotal Lily park in Tanah Rata. Located at a corner unit, you can enjoy the cool highland breeze and a good view of the forest while having your meal. Another good thing about this place is that the overall area is new and not that crowded. The speciality here is the usual half-boiled egg, toast with home made 'kaya', great coffee and their signature dishes (nasi lemak, penang laksa & curry laksa)
