We came across not one but two water dispensers at Tanah Rata on my last trip to Cameron Highlands! Initially skeptics, it has passed the taste test by me and my friend. Nope, we did not suffer from any bouts of diahorrea either. Refilling your bottle at the water dispenser is not only much more economical, it is also much more environmentally friendly =)

Backpackers: Check out the two water dispensers along the Tanah Rata main road, one positioned somewhere outside May Flower Restaurant (can't recall the exact location of the other.

Hey, i wonder any authorities of cameron highland is reading my comment.
well, if there is then i hope they can think about it:

-make a cable car station up to the hill
-build some theme park,
predestrial mall,
jungle resort like Org asli stay
cinema,
convention centre- (CHCC)
casino if possible la
-just tik others places as a reference la
-if our dearest government willing to spend billions on tourism, why done spend it on cameron highland?
-i m 22 yrs old, mayb my thinking is a bit too wonderful, but nothing is imposible. Good luck to Cameron Highland

Dear Keith Chong,

It is not because our government is not willing to spend billions of ringgit to develop Cameron Highlands. Unfortunately, Cameron Highlands has a fragile flora and fauna environment and all these developments will eventually destroy it like what happen to Baguio, Phillipines. Baguio is a massive highlands city in the Phillipines (around 1600 metres above sea level) now with all sorts of entertainment and amusement facilities which include shopping malls and theme park. Unfortunately, all these developments had destroyed hundred of species of wildlife and caused a lot of massive hill slides in Baguio. That's why dear Keith Chong, mountain areas are fragile, you cannot simply develop it like lowland or flat areas. Thank you.

I felt that Cameron Highlands is unique because of it's laid back settings. In the event that the Malaysian Government were to introduce cable cars or build malls & casinoes even, then it will be no different from Genting Highlands. Love it the way it is, will be visiting during Good Friday again. Are the water dispensers still there? smilies/grin.gif

Oh, i couldn't help to agree more with you, Sydney. I opine one Genting Highland will be more than enough for Malaysia, just leave Cameron Highlands alone, let us just preserve the old charm of this piece of peaceful and scenic land. It'd be of distaste to see a high rise shopping mall standing in the middle of this picturesque heaven. I'm a crazy movie-goers, and i was really tempted by keith Chong's idea of building a cinema, but yet, my love for CH managed to grab back to my passion for CH..it's just such a wonderful place,it's simply a gem in the middle of a huge stretch of tropical forests!

I think CH should be as it is. I've been there for the last four years during the December school holidays, I found that many changes have been done. I love the greenery and soothing atmosphere. I think it should remain like that and hope the govt would not develop them any further.

Love our nature, without them, we are nothing.
Save the tree. Save the earth.

I been there six times. It has change, more building and shops houses. The air is not cool as it was. I hope, everybody will preserve our cameron highland.
